Special Considerations For A Social Media Stepparent
There are many things I wish I would have differently with my main stepparenting (personal) blog. I wish I would have crafted a brilliant pseudonym so that I could post questions and concerns about stepfamily life without everyone knowing my real name.
A lot of people don’t realize stepparents have an added burden if they choose to introduce their stepparenthood into the social media sphere. Where biological parents can choose what (or what not) to reveal about their children, stepparents have to consider what the biological parents may not want to have revealed.
This is a topic near and dear to my heart. I’ll be hosting series a blog posts relating to social media stepparenting on this blog in the next few days.
Coming up first: 5 Questions with with a Stepmom blogger who chose to use a pseudonym.

The Beginning of a Blog
I’m no stranger to blogging. I’ve been doing it for a few years; however, I committed a diservice to myself by letting personal feelings get in the way of my uniquely named URL. Now deemed, “the personal blog,” I am well read by some and understood by many.
I felt compelled to start this blog for two reasons:
- Strong desire for a portfolio site where I can showcase my work
- This blog post: Blogs: an effective job-hunting tool?
I earn my keep as both a web editor and social media strategist.
