Stepmom
I’ve been a stepmom longer than I’ve been a social media mogul.
Stepmotherhood was a good fit for me. I wasn’t able to have children of my own but I knew I wanted children in my life. As luck would have it, a wonderful (and previously married) man asked me to be his wife. We married on August 6, 2005 at which time I became…
a stepmother
I enjoy stepmotherhood save for the ocassional freak-out about who has which sport on which night. I’ve found solace in meeting other stepmoms via the Internet which half the time equates to meeting them in person.
Using what I know about social media and social networks, I’ve created an array of stepmom-focused sites:
- Stepchicks (http://stepchicks.ning.com/), a social networking community for stepmoms hoping to debunk the wicked myth one blog at a time. I am both the site creator and community manager.
- The Stepfamily Letter Project (http://stepfamilyletterproject.wordpress.com/) is an anonymous letter-writing blog for blended families. I co-produce the blog with a Jacquelyn Fletcher, author and writer of the blog Becoming A Stepmom.
- The Erin Experiment is a personal blog I have kept since February 2007. The blog began asĀ my entrance into social media while also serving as a means for me to chronicle the ups and downs of my life. The blog has become more personal than professional; however, its purpose is still the same.
- While I didn’t create the site, I do write about stepmom issues on ChicagoMomsLikeMe.com as well.
